ExperienceI am a professional Math Tutor for standardized tests, currently pursuing a Doctorate in Mathematics Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. My tutoring method focuses on the individual student's strengths and weaknesses and has helped dozens of students achieve scores they never thought possible.
I have been tutoring for more than 10 years. Parents are most impressed by my ability to bond with each student and provide customized support, much like an athletic coach.
The tutoring that I provide is highly personalized. During my first lesson, I administer a real test from a past year and carefully observe the student’s test taking ability. I then tailor my instruction toward the student's strengths, making sure that he or she feels challenged and motivated. After each lesson I give homework, and between sessions I’m available to provide help, motivation and moral support.
Unlike many tutors, who drift when their students work on practice problems, I spend every minute of my time interacting with my student. I’m very efficient with my tutoring time, taking personal notes and reflecting on what works and what doesn’t.
I teach my students how to approach a problem and think of the solution. Anyone can pick up study guides and practice exam books while checking the answers. However, the book won’t tell you what you are doing wrong or how to improve your skills. If students want to be sure of doing well on their first attempt, I’ll teach them exclusive techniques and timing skills that simply can’t be found in a study guide but come from years of experience and expertise.
Tutoring is my passion. I take great joy in helping my students. My work goes far beyond just preparing them for standardized tests. It involves helping them to develop skills that will serve them not only on exams, but also in their future college careers and lives beyond academia.

Anya is a very brilliant person with a great background for tutoring any math related subject. On my GRE Quant section I received 165/170. She raised my score from 150 by breaking down problems into simpler form for me.
